Rafting “Martha Brae River

[11.01.2016 Monday]

Already 6:30 we get up, for breakfast I eat Pancacke with chocolate and Harrys eats Jamaican Breakfast “Akee & Saltfish”.

Bruce is on time as arranged yesterday at 9 am at the parking lot. We go rafting in the “Martha Brae River”: but this does not mean that we go by boat in a wild river, but a Jamaican drives us down the river on a very long raft and tells us about the nature around us.

After 45 minutes we reach the entry point, unfortunately the EC card device does not work properly and we do not have enough cash, but then it works out. Luckily we left so early, after us comes a tour bus, but since we get the first raft, the river belongs to us alone 🙂

After an hour we have seen all the bamboo trees, bird species and lizards and the beautiful ride is over. Bruce is at the end point of the raft ride and brings us our shoes.

On the way back to our accommodation we stop at the Jelly Stand, because I really want to try a fresh coconut. With the machete the fruit is worked and a hole is punched in, with the straw we drink the coconut water, which tastes surprisingly good and is rich. Afterwards, the coconut is cut in half with the machete and you can eat the jelly-like flesh, which tastes different from ours.

Around 12 o’clock we are in our accommodation and lay down at the pool, it is very refreshing to jump into the water every now and then. At 5 pm we get two cocktails at the bar and talk with a woman from California, then we go to eat in the restaurant: for me there is red snapper, the widely spread fish and Harry eats beef.

Tomorrow is already the last day of vacation, hard to believe that already 30 days should be around! We will do nothing more, only enjoy the last day the sun.
