Car broken Part II

[12/19/2015 Saturday]

Today we leave the Blue Mountains and drive south to Treasure Beach, a small fishing village that is not yet so touristy and has beautiful sandy beaches.

Before the start of the trip I thought that Harry and I are well tanned after a week in Jamaica and have often been swimming on the beach, as it turns out, there are not dreamy sandy beaches on every coast.

After breakfast we start the long way to the south coast with our Mazda at 9:30 a.m. We absolutely have to refuel the car, get money and water in the capital Kingston.

Unfortunately, our VISA Card is not accepted by two different banks and so far everyone wanted to have cash, which is quite annoying because it is unclear why it does not work. With refueled car we drive over the T1, a very well built but toll road on which we are asked twice to pay and pay a total of 4 euros. Through the good road we create but much distance.

When we park in the supposedly most European city of the island, in Mandelville to look at the city, two Jamaicans point out to us that we have a flat tire! That there are already again problems with the car is quite exhausting, but the helpful Jamaican completely dressed from hat to shoes in white, helps us immediately to change the tire and explains that the gas station can repair the tire! I think in Germany no tires are repaired;) Since we have few other options, we drive with the Jamaican in convoy to the next gas station and within 10 minutes the tire is repaired and reattached to the car. The repair costs about 5 euros and the Jamaican dressed in white wants to have about 10 euros for his services. The whole action takes about 45 minutes, let’s hope this is the last car repair…

At 3 p.m. we shop in a huge “mega market”, mainly water, snacks and coke.

16 o’clock we reach the new accommodation after some searching, on the way here there were hardly any stalls at the roadside and less dogs running free, but cows and goats in the middle of the road.

The room is very spacious, with its own kitchen, terrace and real bathroom. Again, there are no window panes, but the windows can be completely sealed with wooden blinds. After the things are stowed in the apartment, we walk 200 m to the “Rock Love Beach”, enjoy the sandy beach and sunset. On the terrace we let the evening end, tomorrow there should finally be the first real quiet beach day.
