Today we arrive already at 7 o’clock “our island” Jamaica in Ocho Rios and get up at 6 o’clock to photograph the sunrise. Unfortunately, we are not alone in this, since many offered excursions start early, people are already streaming 6:30 the breakfast buffet and food on the outside deck.

After the usual good breakfast buffet, we join the table tennis meeting today at 10 am and play with a total of 6 people each against each other. This is a lot of fun, although most of the players are better than we are.
[02.01.2016 Saturday]
For a second time we reach the island of Hispaniola and then the Dominican Republic. This time we do not dock in the capital, but in La Romana, which is the second major transfer point after Jamaica. This means that we are in port from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. and more than 60% of the guests leave the ship today. Almost 1200 passengers leave the ship after 15 days and new ones join us.

At 8 o’clock we are already awake, so that there is already shortly before 9 o’clock on the outside deck breakfast. So slowly we have arrived on the AIDA and try to adapt to the mass tourism, which means we borrow two towels, look for a free place on the pool deck next to the hundred other Germans and occupy two loungers. We manage 90 minutes in the sun to fry at 31 degrees, it is really very hot.

Air/ water temperature: 27 degrees/ 27 degrees
On the last day of 2015 we have to get up pretty early, because the booked excursion “Typically St. Kitts” requires meeting point at 7:45 a.m. with the group.Therefore Harry and I get up 6 a.m., have to wait shortly before 7 a.m. at the restaurant with other guests for the opening to have breakfast, provide ourselves with drinking water in the fitness area and are on time at the agreed meeting point.

Today is the first of us booked excursion from the AIDA, we make a 35 kilometer bike tour with pedelecs over the island of Tortola with bathing stop on the beach. We have decided when booking two months ago for Pedelacs, because it was not to estimate how my back and Harry’s joints after a good 3 weeks Caribbean stay.
[12/29/2015 Tuesday]
Today we disembark for the first time, which means we have our first shore leave in the capital city of Santa Domingo in the Dominican Republic. Our stay lasts from 8am- 1:30pm, so only half a day. Since we are docking a little outside with the big ship, there will be a paid shuttle bus to take us into town.
[12/28/2015 Monday]
The first night on the ship is relaxing for me thanks to champagne and the travel tablet, Harry could not sleep so well. Today we have a sea day and will thus look at the ship in peace.
Note: after 8 days on the AIDA without internet via my tablet, we found a nice bar today in Jamaica (04.01.16) and I will try to put the last days online.

After all the things are packed and loaded into the car, we check out at 10 o’clock and have breakfast at Pablo’s place. Shortly before eleven we start to our last stage with the rental car, to Montego Bay to the Freeport, in order to deliver our luggage. Afterwards, we have to drive seven kilometers to the airport to drop it off and then take the route cab back to Freeport.

Today is the last evening in Negril, tomorrow then starts a completely different kind of vacation, we check in on the AIDA to our first cruise through the Caribbean. Since the Internet is extremely overpriced there, I will certainly put the next few days no more article online.
