[12/23/2015 Wednesday]
Until breakfast at 9 o’clock the suitcases are already brought into the car. Today there is once again typical Jamaican breakfast. After the last bill is paid and Roger explains us still a description of the way, we start 9:45 o’clock in our last accommodation before the AIDA cruise, in Negril. I quickly congratulate Dad on his birthday via Messanger, since it is not clear whether we have Wi-Fi again in the next guesthouse.
After a brisk drive, we reach the new accommodation in Westend, the “Blue Cave Castle” at 12:15. It is a small castle that looks colorfully thrown together, is barely 20 years old and has a 24/7 security service. Unfortunately, our room is not yet ready for occupancy and so we explore the surroundings on foot. This western part of Negril has no beach but cliffs, you can go on the property of our accommodation over several stairs into the water, there are also caves.
The road is narrow as always, the driving is fast and there is no sidewalk. One bar is next to the next, all advertise a gorgeous sunset and in fact here are the first real souvenir stores ever. I have not yet seen a postcard, let alone a mailbox (so do not be surprised if you get nothing;-)).
Around 14 o’clock we can then move into the room, it is in the tower, has a working refrigerator and view of the wide sea. We go out again and finally find our first geocache, in the middle of the bar “Jennys”, here we log, talk nicely with the cook and drink something else. Since our accommodation surprisingly does not offer breakfast, we want to come here again tomorrow, because we like it.
The lifeguard, who seems to be there only to control the stairs to the bathing places, lets us into the clear water and we enjoy the cooling.
Via Skype I reach the family in the evening around 23 clock dt. time, unfortunately, the Internet is too bad for a picture transmission, but I can congratulate again.
The hoped-for romantic sunset fails to materialize, as clouds creep in front of it.
