Today we take our first boat trip together with the nice Californians. The brother of the employee Anika has a fishing boat that lies at the “Lover Rock Beach” and with it we go to the Black River, a river that flows into the ocean and in which still 300 wild crocodiles live, so there is no guarantee that we see any.
After the delicious Jamaican hearty breakfast we should be 9:30 am on the beach, Roger explains that is “Jamaica Time” it is possible that we start 10 o’clock or 10:30 o’clock, we have to wait then just.
The one-hour trip across the open ocean with the small fishing boat with a total of 6 people is already an unforgettable experience, I was worried that I would get sick due to unpleasant experiences with my last boat trip, but it is really fun to drive at high speed over the waves.
Arrived in the river, our guides had an eye for the crocodiles, the first was only a little bit on the head to see, a second showed then actually still very imposing with open mouth! Very majestic, but also a little scary. The guides reminded us not to hold our hand out of the boat, as this was not as high as the usual tourist boats.
We reached a bridge and had to crawl all the way to the front and duck so we could pass underneath. No more tourist boats go here and we stopped at the “jungle bar” could have bathed here (supposedly the crocodiles live only in the mixed water and we were safe here, but we all waived anyway). We recovered from the boat ride in the jungle bar and drank something, today it was over 30 degrees and the shade did well.
On the way back we actually saw two dolphins swimming next to our boat, madness! We stopped at another fascinating place, a bar in the middle of the ocean and far and wide no land to see, the “Pelican Bar”. In the middle of a sandbank, they have opened a bar with a lot of wood – really crazy! We ordered fish and went into the water, there were colorful pretty fish to see and you could relax well here. For a small fee you could immortalize yourself on one of the many boards, which many people did. Briefly we had the idea to indicate a cache, but without preparation it is not possible. Logistically, it is certainly a master line to get the drinks and food here.
There was more and more wind and so our way back from the bar to the beach was like a one-hour roller coaster ride, the waves were very high and the water provided a shower between each wave! It was really awesome, Taejoon was already struggling a bit with the waves, he is also not a fan of roller coasters as he told usJ 15:30 we reached our accommodation, currently electricity and water was out. On the roof terrace we recovered, and visited the recommended restaurant “Strikies” at 8pm, a 10 minute walk. Harry ordered the Jerk Chicken (very well seasoned chicken), very popular in Jamaica, and I dared to Lobster (lobster that is but already pouted). The Jerk Chicken was much too spicy for me, but tasted very good to Harry. My lobster was already poached and freshly done with onions and tomatoes and tasted excellent. Jack, the son of the Minnesota family showed up and we chatted briefly, his parents had lodging here. With a Rum Cola we end the perfect day!
