Note: after 8 days on the AIDA without internet via my tablet, we found a nice bar today in Jamaica (04.01.16) and I will try to put the last days online.
[12/27/2015 Sunday]
After all the things are packed and loaded into the car, we check out at 10 o’clock and have breakfast at Pablo’s place. Shortly before eleven we start to our last stage with the rental car, to Montego Bay to the Freeport, in order to deliver our luggage. Afterwards, we have to drive seven kilometers to the airport to drop it off and then take the route cab back to Freeport.
The baggage claim works better than expected, in Germany it is certainly more bureaucratic. We have to briefly show our passport and explain in English why we only handed over the luggage, the whole thing takes only 15 minutes.
The handover of the rental car also works without problems, we report the broken tire, the Jamaican does not seem particularly impressed and will certainly not exchange the patched tire. Actually, it is relatively difficult to get a cab from the airport to the ship under 40 USD, but Harry negotiates well and Bruce, the friendly cab driver makes it for 25 USDJ. We talk to him and he promises to wait for us when 10.01.16we get off the ship and take us to our accommodation. We are curious whether he keeps his word!
The check-in runs smoothly at 14:45, we are among the first passengers who check in here, it is a large part of the passengers already a week with the AIDA Luna on the road. The room is sufficiently large, bright and friendly with a small window. Since we booked a little cheaper, we are accommodated on deck 4, so relatively far down. We look around the ship, visit the outdoor sports area with volleyball, basketball, jogging track. The pool deck is already a huge change to our previous trip: everywhere are close to each other the loungers, towels reserve virtually the entire area and everywhere people, here we will certainly not be happy.
In the “All Worlds” restaurant we eat delicious coffee and cake and enjoy the view, then we look at the Theatrium. Apart from the food, you can really spend a lot of money for all kinds of services. After the good dinner our suitcases are there and we unpack, the compulsory sea rescue drill at 8 pm is really exhausting, because some passengers do not show up on time. Shortly before sailing at 9 pm there is a champagne reception for the new arrivals with a small laser show, nice video clip and good music. At 28 degrees we watch the departure of our ship.
Since it is always very windy in the Caribbean and I was already a bit nauseous before the departure of the ship, I take a travel tablet.
There are many new impressions that need to be processed and all the new rules and opening hours take some getting used to after our individual vacation. It will certainly take a few days to get used to it.
